The Haunted Food Forest Festival will consist of a fall festival during the day and a haunted walk at night. Day activities will include many small events such as bobbing for apples, pumpkin painting and hay bale rides, but will also have big ticket attractions like a bounce and maybe a rock wall! There will also be traditional fall foods, some of which will come right from the Food Forest (http://fgcufoodforest.weebly.com/), but things like pumpkins and apples will need to be purchased. A good portion of the funds will also go to costumes and construction materials that cannot be scavenged for the haunted walk and the concert with local bands the last night of the haunted walk. The grant would be used for the following: local rappers and DJs, space and decorations, as well as food for the dance party. We have begun reaching out to local rappers and DJs and are confident the people we are talking to will be able to turn out hundreds to the concert. The Halloween "Trick or Vote" theme will be a sure draw as well. The space we are considering is the Memorial Union, a historic icon on campus. We have reached out to the Union president to find out about the possibility of collaboration. Decorations would also be important to make it scary. We are considering ordering pizza and Halloween themed treats for the dance party from local restaurants.

The $2,500 grant will cover the costs associated with our Haunted Museum Extravaganza. Expenses will include venue, DJ, food, photo booth, movie screening, candy, decoration, prizes, and items needed for the various games and activities.

With this generous grant, we will buy supplies for zombie transformations (including zombie makeup and GOTV t-shirts), purchase food and secure music to lure students to the quad, cover the costs of the zombie/election survival activities throughout the day, provide prizes and incentives for the zombie engagement competition, and produce killer marketing that gets the entire campus talking about that awesome trick or vote event!

Supplies: The money will buy fabric and markers for capes! At the beginning of the event, student groups with gather to decorate their Superhero SWAG! (possible prizes for best superSWAG design!) Marketing: - Flyers posted around campus and dorms, signs in the student center. For example: "Super CIVICS, not Super PACs!" "Save the Date(Oct.31)! Save the Day(Nov.6)!" - Ad space on Facebook. Prizes: The winning team gets a Party with a Purpose to highlight their issue/cause. Money will go toward food, music, decorations and marketing materials!

The money would go to good use! I'll need money to buy costume props for those who need it, for a DJ (one of our college students studying music can DJ for a lesser fee), and for food! The party will be hosted in an on-campus venue - where there will be a rental fee ($300 for the night). We'll also need money to print out enough voter registration forms - just in case some people aren't already registered. During the event, about once every 45 minutes, I'd like to interrupt the music/dancing to provide "a message from our sponsors". At this point, the TV monitors would light up and there'll be a funny, scary video message talking about the importance of voting. To film and edit this video, I'll need to rent video equipment from my school library. I think it's a great idea though - and it will really remind our attendees what the event is all about.

$1000 would be used for Printing, Publicity and Celebrity Relations. $500 ($1500) would be used on each of the campuses (3) for costs related to getting a local radio station, and treats for the students while we go door to door with goodie bags full of knowledge and candy.

With this gift, the League will buy supplies for the haunted house, contract a DJ, and print materials and t-shirts. Between the Haunted House, Trick or Voter Canvass, and the House Party, the League's goal is to engage 1000 voters around the election. Below is a video from the 2010 Trick or Vote event.

Number one priority is to Rent the Party Bus. After that we would use the money to deck it out with streamers, strobe lights and smoke machines. The most important part of the bus is obviously the costumes, so we would use a portion of the funding to create an "Outrageous Party Bus Costumes Trust Fund." We would help the most motivated volunteers get the resources they need to put their costumes over the top. Using organizations like DC Students Speak we would get the word out to college campuses across DC about the trust fund and use it as a tool to get people completely psyched for the Haunted Party Bus of Excellence. Finally, we'd buy the Pumpkins hire the entertainment and dance the night away... Haunted democracy style.

This money will be used to provide zombie costumes and makeup for all of the volunteers. It will also be used for food at our volunteer planning and information meeting. It will be an essential asset to the 'Thriller' dance in Old Town square; used to rent a sound system and realistically costume both candidates for the dance off. We would also like to give event related prizes to all dance participants as a thank you for helping make it a scary good time.

Canvass materials ($250): Clipboard, pens, maps, issue materials, party invitations, costumes / thrift clothes for volunteers, etc... Party ($1,250): Venue & Performers including: musicians, burlesque artists, fire and hula hoop dancers, etc... Promotions ($500) Organizer stipend ($500)

The grant from Trick or Vote would be used in allocating the resources for such a large rally. Food and live music will bring in eager (and hungry!) freshmen. We want to use this opportunity to engage the people who are least likely to know where their polling place is and what the proper identification requirements are. The Trick or Vote grant will allow us to rent a sound system and a DJ for the live music. We would also be working with KU Dining Services to cater the event with lots of food that would draw in people! If possible, we would love to have door prizes for those who wear costumes . These door prizes will include "Arrive with 5" t-shirts, sunglasses, and slap bracelets. Having the Trick or Vote will make it easier to approach potential partners as well! In the end, the resources for Trick or Vote will make this whole event possible!

The $2,500 will cover the expenses associated with the flashmobs: costumes, makeup, transportation, snacks, etc. Leftover funds will cover the cost of audio and visual recording equipment for The Fountain.
